Abstract

6332. Allgemeine Electricitõts-Ges. March 12, 1913, [Convention date]. Printing on tickets; inking-apparatus.-A machine for printing and issuing railway tickets, vouchers, &c. comprises the combination with known means for printing the destination and price &c., of adjustable printing-means for applying different colours, marks, &c. to indi cate the class, availability, &c. of the ticket. As shown, a strip 14 is fed by rollers 15, 16 to a cutting-device 17, 18, and the severed blank is carried by a projecting segmental portion of an impression cylinder 13 and is printed on with a distinctive colour by a roller 8 carried by a rotatable drum 2. Some of the rollers 8 are plain, and some are provided with a pattern which is printed on the ticket. The rollers 8 are inked with inks of various colours and receive their ink from internal chambers 3, with channels leading to felt surfaces 5 contacting with rollers fitted with adjustable blades 9 for controlling the supply of ink to rollers 7 in direct contact with rollers 8. The shaft 1 is adjusted by a crank-handle and indicator dial to set the drum 2 as desired, a ratchet and pawl preventing motion of the shaft 1 during the printing operation. A gear 21 on the surface 13 rotates the ink-rollers 4, 7 and the printing-roller 8 during the printing operation, and after the ticket is printed by a roller 8, it is printed by cylinders 19, 20 with particulars such as number, date, destination, &c. The rollers 8 may be arranged on a longitudinally sliding support, and two rollers may be arranged to produce one characteristic marking, such as a brown ground and red stripes, on a ticket.
