Abstract
381,428. Boot - making machines. GRAHAM, R. A. and GRAHAM, J. I. (trading as GRAHAM & SONS, R.), 4, Armstrong Street, and ROWE, C. E., 5, Murray Street, both in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. Jan. 18, 1932, No. 1514. [Class 17 (i).] I Shoes, removing from, and putting on, lasts.- A support 3 for holding a last 12 in inverted position is associated with a push bar 26 pivotally carrying a boot or shoe removing member 32, and means for forcing the bar upwardly to remove footwear from the last. Preferably, a treadle 20 is linked to a lever 14 adjustably connected to the bar 26. The member 32 has a curved inner face 34 to conform to the rear surface of the last and a thin upper edge 38 transversely curved. When a boot is to be removed from its last, the member 32 is exchanged for a member 42 provided with an extension 44 forming a handle whereby the rear part of a boot upper may be forced rearwardly before the treadle is depressed. By attaching a shoe-horn to the bar 26 and connecting this to the treadle end of the lever 18 the apparatus may be used for putting boots and shoes on lasts.
