529,779. Assembling shoes. DEL-MAC SHOE PROCESS CORPORATION. May 26, 1939, No. 15606. Convention date, May 27, 1938. Addition to 476,974. [Class 17 (i)] Apparatus for assembling a sole and upper when carrying out the method of making shoes described in parent Specification, comprises a narrow form 50 on which a sole S is held while the edge of an upper U is temporarily attached to the edge of the sole. The sole is held against the plate 50 by a pair of abutments 36, the outer of which is angularly adjustable. An adjustable gauge 65 has points 68 at its forward end for facilitating the positioning of the sole. The abutments are carried by an arm 35 which can be swung away from the sole support in a bearing 40, a spring plunger normally holding the arm in operative position. The plate 50 is loosely and detachably carried at the upper end of a post 20 urged upwardly by a spring and depressed, for work-changing by a treadle 26. The toe part 57 of the sole plate is adjustable away from and toward the remainder, a detent 63 engaging one of a number of notches in a member 51 secured to the rear portion.
