Abstract

380,201. Thermionic valve generators. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London. -(Assignees of Hansell, C. W. ; Port Jefferson, Long Island, New York, U.S.A.) July 13, 1931, No. 20120. Convention date, July 28, 1930. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v).] A short wave generator has a cathode emitting electrons in a stream and means for causing the electrons in their passage to the anode to cross the following stream so that the interference produces high frequency oscillations. As shown, the linear stream 6 produced by the cathode 2 is deflected by a circular electrode 4, which may be part of the envelope or a metal coating, so that it crosses its path in its passage to the anode 8 mounted in an insulating bushing 9. The oscillation frequency increases with the anode voltage. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a valve of the magnetron type in which at a critical voltage on the anode the path of the electron stream is a cardioid. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
