Abstract
380,017. Yarn supply for knitting- machines. SAEMUNDSEN, C., 3, Amaliegade, Copenhagen. April 15, 1932, No. 10839. Convention date, April 18, 1931. [Class 74 (ii).] An inflatable yarn support for holding comparatively loose bodies of yarn during delivery to knitting- machines and the like is provided at one end with a detachable flange or a collapsable pad extending beyond the wall of the yarn support. The inflatable yarn support a, Fig. 1, comprises a collapsable pad b over the edge of which the yarn is drawn. The support may be supplied with compressed air or water from the pipe h. In a modification, Fig. 3, the support comprises thin expansible walls m and ribs l of rubber or other suitable material, and a thin expansible top n which expands into the form shown in Fig. 1. In order to obtain a predetermined shape of the yarn support when collapsed, a perforated rigid cylinder or other core may be placed in its interior ; parts of the exterior surface may be coated with fabric or other material to prevent slipping of the yarn.
