Abstract

644,428. Moulding hollow articles from paper pulp. MARGUERAT, G. Aug. 27, 1947, No. 23774. Convention date, Dec. 30, 1942. [Class 87 (ii)] Hollow articles are made by immersing a perforated mould 1 in a suspension of cellulose in water and applying suction through the walls of the mould, the mould being lined or covered with a bag 4 of fine fabric attached to or supported by the base of the mould and secured around its circumference to rings 5, 6 so that upon relative movement between the mould or part of the mould and the rings, the bag is turned inside out, thereby removing the moulded article 7 from the mould and bag without damage. When the article is formed on the inside of the mould as in Fig. 5, the base part 8 only of the mould is movable relatively to the rings 5 and 6 and continues to support the article after its removal from the rest of the mould. The bag may be of finely-woven silk or knitted or woven from threads of rubber, cotton, &c. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 the bag may also be of metal mesh. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
