Abstract

1,171,701. Injecticn moulding fibrous cement articles. ETERNIT A.G. 21 Feb., 1967 [24 Feb., 1966], No. 8159/67. Heading B5A. Articles of fibrous cement, e.g. asbestos cement, are injection moulded in a moulding cavity defined by rigid walls one of which is provided by a rigid member which is removable from the mould and supports the article during setting. In Fig. 1 the supporting member comprises a shell 5 pushed on to a mould core 4 attached to a cover-plate 3. The mould also includes perforated bottom and side plates 1, 2, and metal screens 8 which may be covered by filtering fabric. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the supporting member 12 shapes the outer surface of the moulded article. In F;g. 3 (not shown), the supporting member is the mould core itself. The supporting member may be of plastics, hard rubber, stainless steel, sheet iron protected against corrosion, or ceramic material. The supporting member may be detachably connected to the cover-plate 3 by spring-biased catches (18), Fig. 5 (not shown), by an electromagnet (21), Fig. 6 (not shown), or by suction cups (22), Fig. 7 (not shown).
