Abstract

1321451 Moulding refractory material FOSECO INTERNATIONAL Ltd 5 Jan 1971 [15 Jan 1970] 2065/70 Heading B5A A mould for the isostatic pressing of refractory articles, e.g. bricks, comprises a rigid casing 1 closed by a lid 3 having at least one hollow projection 6 of flexible extensible material, e.g. rubber, extending into the casing. As shown the lid comprises a diaphragm clamped by means 4. After filling the mould with refractory, a removable ring 5 may be inserted whereby a shoulder may be provided on the moulded article. The mould is located in the water filled cavity of an isostatic press. After the moulding operation, the hollow formed in the brick may be filled with refractory material by linear pressing. A parallel sided mould may be lined with sheet material or its walls coated with release agent.
