Circulating or passing fluids through materials. - In an apparatus for dyeing felt, particu. larly bell-shaped pieces used in the manufacture of hats, dye is circulated by a pump, not shown, by being withdrawn from a tank b through a pipe d<2> and sprayed from a pivoted nozzle l, A perforated cone a is supported within the tank and the felt r is supported on the outer surface of the cone serving to cover up the perforations therein more or less. The interior of the cone is submitted to suction through a tube a and steam is admitted through a pipe d<1>.
