Abstract

379,573. Turbines ; self-driving machines. WILSON, T., Holly Lodge, Sleights, Yorkshire. Dec. 1, 1931, No. 33307. [Classes 10 and 110 (iii).] In a turbine of the kind which comprises a cylindrical rotor having a number of non- radial cylindrical bores 21 into which, in turn, pressure fluid is admitted, spring-influenced piston members being accommodated in the bores, the pistons each comprise an annular member 22 slidably mounted on a bush 23 carried by a rod 25 disposed in the recess 21, to move against a spring 28. A cotter pin 30 prevents undue outward movement of the rod 25 under the action of the spring 28. Two rotors may be mounted on a common shaft 18 with reciprocating pumps driven by eccentrics also mounted on the shaft situated between them. This arrangement is stated to function as a perpetual motion machine.
