Abstract
378,694. Security paper. BAUSCH, V., BAUSCH, T., and BAUSCH, F., (trading as SCHOELLER & BAUSCH, F.), Neu Kaliss, Mecklenburg, Germany. Oct. 7, 1931, No. 27892. Convention date, Oct. 7, 1930. [Class 96.] A security paper is made from a paper mass of pH = 3 to 5, and contains in the mass a carboxylic acid derivative of benzene or naphthalene or a derivative or compound thereof, such as di- or trihydroxybenzoic acids &c. as well as a reagent, such as ferric salts, and ferrocyanides of lead &c., which reacts by itself or in the presence of other substances to give colour reactions on the addition of an acid medium of pH less than 3. In an example paper pulp in the hollander or vat is treated with ferric salts and then lead or other ferrocyanide, the pH value being 4. A solution of equal parts of pyrogallolcarboxylic acid and pentagalloyl glucose reduced to pH = 3 to 3À5 by addition of alkali is then incorporated, preferably by drawing the finished paper therethrough or alternatively by spraying in the papermaking-machine, e.g. behind the couch rolls or between the presses.
