Abstract
378,411. Liquid fuel burners. NETTEL, F., 7, Ban, Minami Peramachi Mita Shiba, Tokio. May 4, 1931, No. 13178. Convention date, May 2, 1930. [Class 75 (i).] Fuel is supplied to a furnace either in liquid form or as a vapour, under a pressure produced in a chamber a by burning a portion of the fuel in the chamber. A flame is maintained above the surface of the liquid by a supply of air or oxygen admitted at g at a pressure greater than that within the chamber a regulating valve i in the air or oxygen supply pipe maintains the pressure and temperature in the chamber a constant irrespective of the consumption of fuel which is supplied under pressure through a pipe b. The heated or vaporized fuel leaves the chamber at h, its state depending on the position of the intake of the outflow pipe relative to the liquid level. If the fluid is to be supplied as a liquid the pressure in the chamber may be regulated by controlling an outlet c for the products of combustion ; this outlet is partly closed when vaporized fuel is supplied by the apparatus. Combustion is initiated by b.enzine admitted at d and ignited by an electric igniter e. A small opening to admit atmospheric air may be provided to maintain the combustion when the apparatus is not supplying fuel. Solid fuels, which are liquefied by heat, may be utilized.
