[Class 108 (iii).] A coupling for laminated springs includes a cylindrical bearing member a mounted to pivot about a substantially horizontal axis perpendicular both to the spring axis and to the member a, the spring being clamped to the member by means of a clamp or collar which encircles one or both ends of the member and extends beside the spring to the oppisite side thereof. In one form, the cylindrical member a is clamped to the laminated spring d by a sling f engaging the reduced ends b of the member a and two L-shaped members g riveted or screwed together. To facilitate mounting the member a may be bored transversely as at c and in order to provide an increased bearing surface the spring leaf contacting therewith may be curved or recessed. The member a may be formed by forcing a sleeve over a cylinder and the stirrup f may be widened to allow lateral movement of the spring. In a modification, a collar i, Fig, 3, is mounted on a projection b at one end of the cylindrical bearing member a. A projection l seating in a recess in the collar and the turned-down end m of the lower leaf of the spring d may be provided to prevent longitudinal movement relatively to the collar b alternatively a threaded end of the projection ; may pass through the collar to receive a nut. The member a may be attached to a spring or it may be articulated to a pivotally mounted member o and the upper part of the collar i may be extended to form a larger clamping- surface.
