377,649. Hydraulic couplings. KIEP, J. N., 22, Reichskanzlerstrasse, Hochkamp, Altona, Germany. Jan. 19, 1931, No. 1813. Convention date, Oct. 22, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 69 (ii).] A coupling of the F÷ttinger type is provided with means for emptying it by axial displacement of the driving or driven member ; filling, venting, and cooling means are also provided. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the axially-movable driving member 11 has a split ring 48 controlling outlet ports 44 leading to a cooling vessel 47 communicating with a liquid reservoir 34. The coupling is filled from the reservoir through valves 41 and passages 35, 37 ; a slow circulation may be permitted during operation of the coupling through the valves 41 and a byepass 61. Air is vented through conduits 62, holes 64-66, and conduit 46. In another form, outlet openings 86, Fig. 7, are controlled by pins 82 fixed to the axially-movable driving member, a guide member 88 is provided in the liquid reservoir 87, and the coupling is filled from the reservoir through valves 96, and passages 93-95 in the driven member.
