Abstract
377,003. Combing-machines. NASMITH, J. W., Leegate, Mauldeth Road, Heaton Mersey, Manchester. Sept. 5, 1931, No. 24941. [Class 120 (i).] In a combing machine having detaching and piecing rollers arranged as described in Specifications 344,102 and 345,241, the detaching roller D, Fig. 1, and the upper piecing roller P<1> move together to and from the nipper, the shaft 15 of the roller P<1> being supported from the shaft 18 of the detaching roller D during such movement and at an adjustable distance therefrom. The upper piecing roller P<1> is supported in bearings 14a in links 14 each hinged to an arm 11 by means of a stud 13 and slot 12. An angularly adjustable disc 16 is mounted eccentrically on the bearing 14a so as to engage a bush 17 on the shaft 18. The disc 16 may be set to regulate the distance between the rollers P<1>, D, and may be clamped by a screw and washer 19. The weight-hook 9, Fig. 2, is cut away to accommodate the disc 16. The rollers D, P<1> are shown at their nearest point of approach to the nipper.
