Abstract

375,886. Rotary pumps. EYSTON, G. E. T., 329, High Holborn, London. April 7, 1931, No. 10242. Addition to 338,546, [Class 8 (i), Air and gases, Compressing &c.]. [Class 8 (i).] In a pump in which pistons a, a<1>, a<2>, Fig. 1, reciprocating in transverse bores in a revolving cylinder b, are formed with circular tracks g<2> rolling on cams f<1>, both the cylinder and the pistons are positively driven by means of toothed gears g, o. The cams f<1> are mounted on a driving-shaft f, which carries an internallytoothed wheel gearing with teeth o on the hub of the cylinder b, and the cams f<1> are formed with teeth gearing with teeth.g in the pistons. In a modification, Fig. 3, two or more cylinders b, b<1> are employed revolving in a casing c having a partition t. The cylinders are carried by shafts z and their hubs have projecting gearwheels w meshing with gear-wheels x on a shaft y. The wheels x engage also teeth g<4> in the pistons, the latter having tracks g<3> rolling on a cam f<3>, which is secured in the partition t and forms a bearing for the shaft y. The pistons are formed with parallel surfaces 2 sliding on guides 1 carried by the partition. In a modification the wheel x is replaced by a wheel having internal teeth engaging the wheel wand external teeth engaging the teeth g<4>. Specification 353,951 is referred to.
