Abstract
1298198 Rotary positive - displacement machines DRUM ENG CO Ltd 2 Feb 1970 [1 Feb 1969] 5563/69 Heading F1F [Also in Division F2] Co-operating lobed rotors 3,4 of a pump motor or blower have shafts coupled by synchronizing gears 5,6 to prevent contact between the meshing lobes. Accurate location of the gear 5 is facilitated by the latter having internal splines engaging with an equal number of splines 9 on a sleeve 10 fixed to the shaft 1, the number of splines 9 being greater than the number of teeth on the gear by at least one and such that these numbers have no common divisor other than unity. Alternatively, both of the gears are fixed to the shafts and a similar spline arrangement is provided for one of the rotors.
