Abstract
1395385 Rotary positive-displacement fluid-machines IMPROVED MACHINERY Inc 14 Sept 1972 [6 Oct 1971] 42696/72 Heading F1F To reduce noise generated by a pump having intermeshing rotors 68, 70 with axially straight lobes 84 an outlet 76 defined by baffles 86 has central portions 94 that in a direction longitudinally of the pockets 80 between the lobes are smaller than the remainder of the outlet. In other embodiments, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown), the outlet is either substantially lozenge shaped or cruciform. It is indicated that the pump may comprise a single rotor with axially straight or spiral pockets and one of said central portions on the leading side of the outlet only. A pump is also described that is basically the same as that disclosed in Specification 1336478, the outlet 34 adjacent the single screw-rotor 16 being shaped as shown in Fig. 2 or 3.
