Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the seal effect between stationary and rotary scroll blades by setting the side surface clearance of a scroll lap on at least one of the scroll blades in such a way that it is made to be larger toward the outer peripheral section of the blade, than those of the center end of the blade and the discharge pressure area. CONSTITUTION:In a scroll compressor, stationary and rotary scroll blades each having a mirror plate on which a spiral scroll lap is planted upright, are meshed with each other. In this arrangement, the side surface clearance of a scroll lap on at least one of these scroll blades is set in such a way that it is made to be larger toward the outer peripheral section of the blade than the center end part of the blade and the discharge pressure area. That is, for example, the semi-arc 101 of the inner periphery of the first half of the second round of the scroll lap has a center O'1 which is shifted in the increasing direction by (e) from the center O1 of a basic shape 201 of the inner periphery of the first half of the second round of the scroll lap, and accordingly, the thickness of the scroll lap in this first half of the second round is decreased by 2e. Consequently, the centers O1, O2 of the semi-arcs 102 through 104 are shifted respectively in the similar manner, thereby it is possible to make the thickness of the scroll lap thinner.
