Abstract
375,716. Holders for rolls of adhesive tape. NEUBRONNER, C., 15, Schlossstrasse, Cronberg-im-Taunus, Germany. Dec. 31, 1931, No. 36054. [Class 18.] In a device for delivering adhesive strip or tape from a roll and moistening it a tongue is arranged to be interposed between the strip and the moistening pad or brush as the former is drawn forward, so as to prevent moistening of the leading end of the strip and to be thereafter retracted so as to allow the strip to be moistened. The device consists of side members 1, between which the roll 3 of gummed paper strip or the like is supported on a baseplate 4, with a detachable liquid trough 5 in which is mounted a brush 6. A guide plate 7 covers the part of the trough behind the brush, and above the plate 7 is arranged a blade 8 having a serrated edge for severing the strip. Below the guide plate 7 is a feed roller 14 which carries a tongue 15 of impermeable material, e.g. thin steel. The free end of the tongue 15 lies normally under the plate 7 with its forward edge under the edge of the blade 8. When the end of the strip is fed forward by pressing it against the feed roller 14 with the finger and partially rotating the latter, the tongue is projected at the same time between the strip and the brush 6 as shown. The dry end of the strip can then be grasped, and the tongue is retracted by a spring 19 when the feed roller is released. The tongue may be narrower than the strip, so that the centre portion only of the latter is kept dry.
