Abstract

626,064. Towelling dispensers. WOOSTER, P. A. July 26,1946, No. 22367. [Class 18] A holder for a roll of towelling comprises a dispensing roller 56, against which the towelling is pressed by a presser roller 58, and a guide plate 59 extending from the rollers to an opening in the holder through which the towelling is dispensed. The guide plate 59 is curved and is positioned adjacent the dispensing roller 56 so that the distance between the roller and plate increases towards the opening. A supply roll 40 is rotatably mounted between two side plates 13, 14, and held in position by a spring plate pressing against one end of the roll. Alternatively, the roll may rest loosely on ledges within the holder. The presser roller 58 is held against the dispensing roller by spring biassed bearing plates 74 pivotally supported by the side plates 13, 14. The dispensing roller is geared to a spindle 84 which extends outside the holder to form a handle 87. Rotation of the handle drives the dispensing roller to feed the towelling out through the opening and a length may be severed from the supply by engagement with a serrated edge 57 on the bottom edge of the plate 59. The rollers may be provided with annular grooves 56a, 61, which permit fingers 60 on the top of the guide plate 59 to extend between the rollers to guide the towelling between the rollers. Portions a, b, c, of the presser roller 58, between the grooves 61 may be reduced over part of their circumference to relieve the pull on the towelling at intervals and prevent uneven feeding across the width of the towelling.
