Abstract

375,501. Measures of length. SIM, A. H., 100, Fonthill Road, Aberdeen. May 21, 1931, No. 15060. [Class 106 (ii).] Comprises a graduated rule 1 having a terminal scriber 2 to mark the material being measured such scriber being formed integrally with a shoe or socket 3 which fits the end of ú the rule. The socket is stamped out of sheet metal blank and bent into the form of a socket which is secured to the end of the rule by rivets, the edges of the scribers 2 fitting snugly to the side of the hinge 4 when the rule is folded. In another form the scriber is formed by stamping a V through the blank from one of the transverse bending lines so that the apex is towards one end. The shoe may be fixed to the rule by spikes stamped out of the initial blank. The alignment of the marking edge with the zero mark of the rule is obtained by providing the scriber with a bevelled edge.
