Abstract
560,382. -Mathematical drawing appliances. STAGG, S. R., and CHEESWRIGHT, R. S. Sept. 28, 1942, Nos. 13579 and 13580. [Class 97 (iii)] In order that circular arcs may be drawn with the aid of drawing appliances such as rulers, set-squares, protractors &c., the latter are provided with one or more circular apertures 3, 4 in which a pivot pin may be inserted and one or more rows of V-shaped recesses 2 or triangular apertures 7 into one of which a pencil or scriber may be inserted for describing the arc, the sloping sides of the recesses 2 or apertures 7 serving to grip the sides of the pencil point to facilitate accurate drawing. The V-shaped recesses 2 may be formed in one or more slots in the appliance or along one of the outer edges while the angular apertures 7 are arranged in the body of the appliance. The recesses or angular apertures are arranged at regular intervals and the apertures 3, 4 for the pivot forming the centre of the are to be drawn are arranged one at a distance of, say, 1/8" from the nearest recess &c. and the other at, say, 3/16" from its nearest recess &c., so that arcs may be drawn with radii differing by not more than 1/16".
