Abstract
375,023. Gas meters. PARKINSON & COWAN (GAS METERS), Ltd., Fitzalan Street Works, Kennington Road, London, THORP, F., Birchdene, Whitefield, near Manchester, and BUTTERWORTH, E., Fitzalan Street Works, Kennington Road, London. May 4, 1931, No. 13077. [Class 54.] A wet gas meter such as described in Specification 299,935, [Class 54, Gas distribution], comprising a number of interconnected pairs of liquid sealed bells, each pair constituting a balanced unit and being contained in a separate gas section of the meter and each bell being contained in a separate compartment of the gas section with the space above one bell in communication with the space below the other bell of the pair, is provided with valves operatively connected with the bell in the several compartments for controlling the inflow and outflow of gas to and from the compartments to give a continuous gas delivery. In the meter shown the gas compartments y, z, 2, 3 contain balanced pairs of liquid-sealed bells s, t and u, v, conduits 4 .. 7 connecting the space below each bell to the space above the other bell of the pair. Gas enters the meter through a passage band is withdrawn through connected passages o, p. The gas flows to and from the spaces above the bells in turn under the control of liquid-sealed valves g .. j, the valves g, h being operated by a shaft operated by the oscillating shaft of the bells u, v and the valves i, j being operated by the oscillating shaft w of the bells s, t. Both oscillating shafts are connected to crank arms on the index shaft 10, the crank arm being set at such an angle as give the required sequence of movement.
