Abstract
374,760. Straps for trousers and like garments ; fastenings. SADDLETON, W. H., 26, Gibbon Road, Kingston-on- Thames. Nov. 5, 1931, No. 30641. [Class 141.] A strap fastening for the waistband, upper portions, or leg-bands of garments, such as trousers, knickers, &c., comprises a band 2 made in one piete of non-stretchable material with a buckle cr clamp capable of slidable adjustment, one end 3 of the band 2 being stitched to the garment, and the other end 4 being provided with a hem or loop 11 which, after passing inwardly through an elongated loop 6 secured to the garment, is passed through a slot in the buckle or clamp and retained in positior by a pin 11a inserted in the hem or loop 11. The buckle is made in two portions, as shown in Figs. 7 and 8, the rear portion 10 being provided at one end with a slot 10a for the reception of the end 4 of the band 2, and at the other end with a gripping- portion 12. Pivots 15 formed on the portion 12 enter recesses or holes 16 in projections 17 on the front portion 18 of the buckle. The outer edge 14 of the gripping-portion 12 is arranged at or about the centre of the portion 18 so that, when desired, the latter may be pressed into a flat position to secure the band 2 between it and the gripping-edge 14. In a modification, the rear portion 10, instead of having a slot 10a, is provided with a pair of projecting lugs 20, between which is pivotally mounted an L-shaped plate 21. The shorter leg of the plate 21 is provided with a gripping- edge, and the longer leg is provided with a tongue 23 which either rests upon the outer surface of a part 13 of the rear portion 10, or is arranged to enter a recess 24 formed in the part 13. The rear portion 10 is secured to the front portion 18 of the buckle as described above. To secure this type of buckle to the end 4 of the band 2, the tongue 23 is lifted to allow the end 4 to be inserted between the inner surface of the rear portion 10 and the gripping- edge of the plate 21, after which the tongue 23 is pressed down until the end 4 is firmly secured.
