GUS LINDAUEB, or PATCHOGUE, NEW YORK.
HOLDDOWN FOR SHIRTS.
Application filed. April 4, 1924. semi No. 704,162.,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known thatI, GUs Lmnannma citizen of the United States of America. residing at Patchogue, in' the county of Suifolk and State of New York,- ha.ve invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holddowns for Shirts, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to hold-downs for shirts and has particular reference to an elastic strap device associated with the tail portion of a mans shirt for properly holding the lower end of the shirt confined within the waist portion of trousers and preventing upward creeping movement of the shirt to eliminate the sides of the shirt overhanging the waist band of the trousers.
A further object of the invention is to provide a strap device for holding down the lower end of a shirt wherein a. section of the strap extending between the legs has the opposite ends "thereof detachably connected to a shirt adjacent its waist line and with the forwardly positioned strap portion formed of detachably. connected sections to permit removal of the strap from the crotch whenever desired.
With the above and other objects in view that will become apparent as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists of the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawin and claimed.
n the drawing, wherein like reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views,
Figure 1 is a schematic view of the hold.- down in its operative position .and illustrated in front elevation,
Figure 2 is a similar rear elevational view of the hold-down,
Figure 3 is a developed plan view of the Figure 4 is a fragmentary edge elevational view of the front portion of the hold- Fi re 5 is a fragmentary view b f the end of one of u the The hold-down is in the form of an elastic strap device embodying a fabric sheet or as illustrated in ig. 3 having a front elastic stra 2 rmanently attached to one hold-down strap,
down strap, and
peorpective t strap sections.
pad 1 substantiall of triangular formation corner 1; ereo. with the free end of the strap 2 folded upon itself as at 3 for. reinforcing the strap and providing a substantial mounting for the keeper pin or hook 4 as shown in Figs. 4 and 5. A protectin or ard paid 5 is secured to the folded end 3 o the strap 2 and projects beyond the end'oif the strap.
as illustrated for purposes presently to appear. 4
4 A detachable elastic strap-section 6 carries a loop keeper 7 at one end thereof for detachable engagement with the hook 4, the pad 5 underlying the keeper 7 and adjacent end of the strap section 6 to hold the same spaced from the body of the wearer. The strap section 6 is'looped as at 8 and is provided with the usual buckle 9 to facilitate lengthening and shortening thereof while a link 10 freely associated .with the looped portion 8 carries a separable fastener 11 in the form of a separable loop 12 and stud 13,.
Each of the other corners of the triangular pad 1 carries an extensible elastic strap 14 provided with a separable clasp 15 at its or person while the strap sections 14 are positioned rearwardly thereof.
In the use of the device, the separable clasps 15 are attached to the shirt 8- adjacent each hip andthe waist line as illustrated in Fig. 2 while adjustment of the strap sections positions the pad 1 adjacent the rear portion of the seat as illustrated. The strap 2 is passed between the legs and the separable clasp 12-13 isattached to' the front side of the shirt adjacent the waist line as shown in Fig. 1, adjustment of the strap sections 2 and 14 accommodating the holddown device to persons of different sizes and proportions and effectively holding the lower end or tail portion of the shirt within the waist portion of the trousers to revent upward creeping thereof. The c asp connection 4-7 is readily separable whenever desired to remove the strap 6 from the crotch, and the shirt may be rem owed from Y the bod of the wearer with the separable that minor changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed as new is:-
In a hold-down of a type described, a
r; pad, a; strap carried by one end Rim thereof, a. se ramblefastener carried by thefreeend 0 said strap, a. protection pad projectin 5 fastener, aln adjustk strap liiijviug 'a, sepa table fastener .at' one end to 'qomgeeted t0 the first lie tbsp beyond the separable mentioxied fastener and to over-' on padfg'se'giarable' garment fimm means carried by the free end ofthe adjustab a strap, an adjustable stm by each of the remaining ends 0 angular; pad, temngnieans cairiedby the free end of each f thelast-mentioned adjustable straps.
In testimony whereof I afix m si 1 ture.
