Abstract

374,669. Band clips. MARSHALL, A. C. and STEEL SCAFFOLDING CO., Ltd., 80, Regent Street, London. July 20, 1931, No. 20758. [Class 44.] A scaffold clamp consists of two open-ended U-shaped members, each adapted partially to embrace one pole, the axes of the poles being disposed at right angles. The U-shaped member a is provided with projections d, e, one at each end, which form a groove for the reception of the tube z which abuts against the upper portion of the lower tube y. To one projection e is pivoted the other U-shaped member b, while to the other is pivoted a clamping bolt h, the shank of which may pass into a slot in the other clamping member, the two members being drawn together by a nut m which is provided with a sleeved extension and a flange o to engage behind projections on the end l of the upper clamping member. By this arrangement, the hinging and clamping means of the upper clamping member are disposed at opposite ends of the lower clamping member. The clamping bolt may pass through an aperture provided in the end of the upper clamping member and screw into a nut provided on the projection d. Bolts p are provided in the lower clamping member to secure it to the tube carried by it and the upper clamping member may be provided with a stop so that it may form a support for a tube when in open position.
