Abstract

374,384. Piles. BARR, J. F., Killineer House, Drogheda, Co. Louth,. Irish Free State. Jan. 11, 1932, No. 750. [Class 68 (ii).] Concrete piles for land the lower strata of which are waterlogged are made by forming the lower part of the pile up to a point above the water level of pre-cast blocks, the remaining part being made in the usual way. The Figure shows a preparatory boring tube 1, at the bottom of which is a pre-cast block 2 with reinforcing rods 3 in it. Other blocks 4 are threaded on the rods 3, and connected by grooves 5 and grouting. When the underground water level is reached, the upper part of the pile is made by pouring in concrete.
