[Class 97 (ii).] A device for ascertaining heights of objects comprises a pendulum 3, the upper edge 4 of which coincides with the hypotenuse of a member 1, shaped as a right-angled triangle, when the latter is in an upright position. The top of the object is sighted along the hypotenuse A-B, which is preferably formed with a cut-out portion 2. The member 1 is attached to a tube 5 which may be used as a handle or for mounting the device on a tripod.
