Abstract
269,718. Connolly, T. F. March 29, 1926. Theodolites.- The scale-reading device for a theodolite &c. consists of a single compound microscope in which both the graduated circles are observed. In the form shown the telescope a is of the CoudÚ type comprising a reflecting prism and a laterally extending eyepiece e in the field of view of which is a diaphragm d. The vertical and horizontal circles m, w have conical graduated surfaces a<1>, b<1>, so arranged that both are visible through a single compound microscope consisting of an objective t and a prism v forming an image on the diaphragm d. The diaphragm is provided with a suitable graticule or vernier scale to be read in conjunction with the scale images.
