PATENT OFFICE VICTOR E. CARBONARA, OF ROCKVILLE CENTER, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR T0 BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION, OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, A CORPORATION OF DELA- WARE DESIGN FOR A SEXTANT Application filed October 31, 1931. Serial No. 41,584. Term of patent 14 years.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, VICTOR E. CARBONARA, a subject of the Kingdom of Italy (first papers, United States), residing at Rockville Center, Long Island, county of Nassau, State of New York, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for Sextants, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
In the drawings:
Fig. 1 is a perspective View of a sextant showing the new design of the present invention; and
Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof.
The opposite side of the instrument illustrated in Fig. 1 is symmetrical with and similar to the side shown in Fig. 2 except that no supporting bracket is provided for a time-piece at the eye-piece end of the instru ment and there are no dial means on said opposite side for indicating the readings of the angular positions of the prisms wit-h respect to the horizontal, and no chart for recording said readings. Of course, it is ob vious that the supporting bracket, the dial indicating means, and the chart may be arranged on either side of the instrument without departing from the general appearance of the design.
What is claimed is: The ornamental design fora sextant, as shown and described.
