Abstract

Weft pile fabrics are prepared for cutting, and cotton fabrics for roughening or napping, by applying an oxidizing solution to the front side. A suitable solution comprises monopole soap and sodium perborate dissolved in soda lye; sodium peroxide or hydrogen peroxide may be used instead of sodium perborate. In preparing weft pile fabrics, the front side may be further treated in known manner, e.g. with sulphonated oils, but the usual stiffening of the reverse side of the material may be dispensed with. Removal of size prior to cutting or roughening is unnecessary. The cutting or roughening is effected in known manner.
