Abstract
372,938. Electric lamp holders. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and KAULA, R. J., Witton Moulded Insulation Works, Witton, Birmingham. May 4, 1931, No. 13111. [Class 39 (ii).] An electric lamp holder comprising a socket part 1 which is provided with a metal sheath or liner 5 and is formed of a composition comprising a synthetic resin and an organic material such as wood meal is provided with a member such as a shade ring or a shield 4 which is screwed on to the socket part and is formed of a composition comprising a synthetic resin and asbestos, which does not shrink and become tight upon the socket under the influence of heat. The shield 4 is of the " Home Office " type provided with a series of ventilation holes 8, and is moulded under heat and pressure. A cap 3 of material similar to that used for the socket 1 is screwed upon the end of the latter. The synthetic resin employed is preferably that known under the registered Trade Mark " Bakelite." A composition used for moulding the shield comprises 40 per cent synthetic resin and 60 per cent asbestos by weight ; a proportion of organic material such as wood meal may be added.
