Abstract

372,842. Current transformers. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, and GARTON, C. G., 56, Park Road, Rugby. Feb. 19, 1931, No. 5285. [Class 38 (ii).] Apparatus for dividing in the same ratio the alternating and continuous current components in circuits carrying these components simultaneously comprises a non- inductive shunt 3 which supplies the current coil 4 of a wattmeter with a fraction of the continuous current component, and a current transformer 1, 2 supplying the same fraction of the alternating current component. The core of the transformer may be provided with a small air gap to weaken its continuous current magnetization which is neutralized by the shunted current.
