372,452. Knitting. BLACKBURN & SONS, Ltd., G., Atlas Works, Kirkewhite Street, and WIDDOWSON, T., 502, Meadow Lane, both in Nottingham. Feb. 26, 1931, No. 5985. [Class 74 (ii).] A non-laddering knitted fabric is composed throughout of large double loops formed from yarns 2, 3 and, alternating therewith both vertically and horizontally, small single loops formed from yarns 1, 3. Long and short needles arranged alternatingly around the cylinder are operated by cams at different levels so that one set knits yarns 2, 3 together while the other set is knitting on yarns 1, 3 successively. All the needles go through the same cycle of knitting operations. The fabric can also be knitted on an odd number of needles of uniform length by using a dividing wheel to depress alternate needles so that they take yarn 1. These needles are kept depressed until the remaining needles take the yarn 2 ; all the needles take the yarn 3.
