June 25, 1931, No. 18446. [Class 12 (i).] To relieve the.roller bearings 6 of a railway truck axle from pressure due to axial thrusts, the bearings are disposed within a housing or bushing 7 which surrounds the axle 1 and between which and internal shoulders 15 on the axle casing 2 are disposed compression springs 5 that permit the housing a sliding movement within the casing. On its inner side the housing is closed by a ring 8 and on its outer side by a cover 9 against which the hub of the wheel 3 bears, while a pacliing gland 10 prevents access of dirt or water to'the bearing.
