Dust, excluding; oil, retaining.-A packing- ring r of the kind described in the parent Specification has the positioning springs c secured to the inner metal ring of the packing device and adjacent to the felt ring. The springs c for packings with felt rings of various thicknesses may thus be made all the same size. As shown, the packing- ring is applied to a roller bearing for a wheel b having a ball thrust bearing e or a wearing ring to take axial thrust. When assembling the bearing parts the packing-ring r holds the ball and roller bearings in place in the axle casing.
