Abstract

A composition especially suited for removing nicotine or other stains from the hands or from delicate fabrics consists of an aqueous solution containing alkali hypochlorite or hypobromite and free alkali in which solution the available chlorine or bromine is 0,5-15 per cent, the free alkali is less than 8 per cent, and the available chlorine or bromine is 1-3 times the free alkali. A more concentrated solution may be made up and diluted before use; or separate solutions of hypochlorite and caustic soda or potash may be made up and mixed in the proper proportions before or during use. Preferably the solution is applied to the stain which is then rubbed slightly with cloth or cottonwool and washed with warm water and then with a dilute acetic or other acid. A preferred composition consists of a solution of sodium hypochlorite and caustic soda containing 2 per cent of free alkali and 2 per cent of available chlorine.ALSO:A composition especially suited for removing nicotine or other stains from the hands or from delicate fabrics consists of an aqueous solution containing alkali hypochlorite or hypobromite and free alkali in which solution the available chlorine or bromine is 0.5-15.0 per cent, the free alkali is less than 8 per cent, and the available chlorine or bromine is 1-3 times the free alkali.
