Abstract

A composition for use in washing linen comprises sodium carbonate 40-70, sodium bicarbonate 20-40, and sodium peroxide 10-20 per cent.ALSO:A process of washing linen without boiling comprises soaking the linen in a soap bath at 50-60 DEG C. and then, after drying or draining but without rinsing, soaking in a second bath capable of generating hydrogen peroxide at a temperature of 60 DEG C. or below. The second bath may be formed by dissolving in water a mixture containing sodium carbonate 40-70, sodium bicarbonate 20-40, and sodium peroxide 10-20 per cent, and subsequently adding soap to the solution. If the linen is very dirty, it may be steeped in water before the treatment in the first bath, and some of the mixture described above may also be added to the first bath. The second bath after use may constitute the first bath for the treatment of another batch.
