Abstract

371,124. Cleaning confectionery &c. after moulding. ANCIENS ETABLISSEMENTS A. SAVY, JEANJEAN, ET CIE, Avenue Dubonnet, Courbevoie, Seine, France, and BAKER PERKINS, Ltd., Hythe Road, Willesden, London. March 16, 1931, No. 8004. Convention date, April 9, 1930. [Class 87 (ii).] Apparatus for cleaning confectionery articles &c. which are moulded in starch moulds comprises a bed of brushes formed of a plurality of separate removable elements 1 .. 4 which are held in contact with one another to form a continuous brushing surface. The frames 1 .. 4 are slidable in guides 9 and are clamped together by cross-bars 14, 15 held by screws. Slotted hooks 12 on the frames engage studs 13 so that the frames may be withdrawn, one at a time, at the end of the apparatus, the slots in the hooks 12 being wide enough to provide a slight lost motion. The device may be used in conjunction with an apparatus in which the starch moulds 20 are tipped up at a point 20a to deposit the moulded articles on a sieve 22, the empty cases being filled again with starch by an elevator 23 and carried to a depositing machine 25. The sieve 22 and bed of brushes 1 .. 4 are reciprocated longitudinally by the eccentric 28 and a brush 30 sweeps transversely across them.
