Abstract

Disazo dyes are made by coupling a diazotized o -aminophenol (2 mols.) with a coupling component containing at least one disulphide or trisulphide group (1 mol.). They dye cotton from a sulphide bath and the dyeings may be after-treated with metal salts. The following dyestuffs are specified: (1) 4-nitro-2-aminophenol \sQ 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic acid p : p<1>-dithioanilide; (2) o - aminophenol \sQ bis - (2-hydroxynaphthyl-6)-disulphide; (3) 4-chloro-2-amino-1-phenol \sQ trisulphide of a -naphthol; picramic acid is also specified as a diazo component. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also azo dyestuffs containing disulphide or trisulphide components other than disazo dyes. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Specification 365,937 is referred to.
