Abstract
369,589. Rotary disc valves. FAIRWEATHER, H. G. C., 65, Chancery Lane, London.-(Atlantic Refining Co. ; 260, South Broad Street, Philadelphia, U.S.A.) Nov. 22, 1930, No. 35254. [Class 135.] A multiple-way rotary disc valve for diverting or distributing hot gases, such as the exhaust from Diesel engines, comprises an inlet chamber 3, Fig. 3, housing the valve 10 and a second chamber 2 formed with a finished valve seating surface having outlet ports to conduits 11, 12, &c. The actuating handle 19, Fig. 2, is provided with a latch 27 associated with a notched stop quadrant 22 so that the movements of the valve are limited to a range wherein one or more openings 10<1> in the valve register with one or more ports in the valve seating so that the flow area is never substantially reduced and the working surfaces are not left in contact with the hot gases controlled. The valve spindle 13 has a self-adjusting tight joint in the valve disc by reason of flared and socketed parts 17, Fig. 5, held in contact' by a spring ; a rectangular head 15 provides for the drive.
