Abstract
368,611. Road - traffic signals on vehicles. WHITELEY, E., 10, Sefton Grove, Lark Lane, Liverpool. May 30, 1931, No. 15866. [Class 118 (ii).] For use at the rear of a vehicle, a compartmented casing 2 moulded from insulating material carries lamps 14 adapted to be selectively illuminated to show manoeuvre signals 20, 21, 22 stencilled in a detachable front plate 16 having a broad flange 17 and backed by a coloured transparency. Spring strip terminals 38, 39 for each lamp socket are housed in a rear compartment closed by a metal plate 34 and provided with a tubular member 44 for the lead-in wires and for attachment to the number plate 45. This plate may be arranged at the side of or below the signals and is illuminated by the lowest lamp 14, which acts also as the tail lamp. An illuminated movable pointer may be operated simultaneously at the front of the vehicle.
