Abstract

368,160. Screw pumps. SULZER FR’RES SOC. ANON., Winterthur, Switzerland. June 4, 1931, No. 16191. Convention date, July 30, 1930. [Class 110 (i).] A detachable sleeve or liner is arranged inside the housing of an axial flow pump so that the internal diameter can be adjusted. The shaft 1 of the impeller 2 is carried by bearings 6, 7 supported in the housing by members 11, 12. An annular recess 14 is made in the housing and a liner 13, split tc spring into the recess, is placed in position opposite the impeller. The liner - is internally stream-lined. In a modification, the part of the housing opposite the impeller is made of double thickness, and after it has become worn, the recess is cut for the liner 13. In another modification, the liner 14, Fig. 2, is arranged so that its inner surface is flush with the surfaces of the housing adjacent to it. By providing a set of liners of different internal diameters and corresponding impellers, the pump may be adjusted for different purposes.
