Abstract

367,136. Lifting-jacks. INGLIS, R. J. M., Tantah, Peebles. Jan. 22, 1931, No. 2215. [Class 78 (iii).] A ratchet jack has a spring-pressed retaining pawl depending from a pivot at or near the top of the jack frame and having teeth near its lower end engaging rack teeth on the lifting pillar. The lifting pillar 1 has rack teeth 8 engaged by the lifting pawl 5 on the operating lever socket 3. The retaining pawl 7 depends from a pivot 9 near the top of the frame and has teeth 10 near its lower end engaging the rack teeth. A recess at the back of the retaining pawl is engaged by one end of a blade spring 11 having a hook-shaped end engaging a bar 17 on the frame. The spring may protrude through an aperture in the frame. A coiled spring may be used.
