Abstract

271,998. Powell, A. D. April 16, 1926. Jacks. -A lever lifting-jack has the standard provided with a number of bearings so that the lever can be positioned at various heights in the standard. The standard 5 has apertures 13 with a series of bearing recesses 12 at one side. The lifting lever 8 has a fulcrum pin 7 adapted to be engaged in the recesses 12, the pin 7 carrying a ratchet block 6. The ratchet block has teeth 15 adapted to be engaged by a spring- pressed pawl 16 mounted on the lever to retain the load in the raised position and the block has bearing surfaces 24 adapted to slide up the face of the standard and projections 25 adapted to en, gage recesses 26 in the standard. The crutch 29 is pivotally mounted at the end of the lifting lever and is connected to the bearing block by a parallel motion linkage 32. The crutch is provided with a pivoted extension piece 35 or with a lateral auxiliary load engaging support.
