Abstract

Apparatus for carrying out reactions at elevated temperature in presence of hydrogen is made of or lined with an alloy containing titanium, iron, and aluminium, and optionally also one or more of the elements chromium, tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium, silicon, nickel, cobalt, copper, manganese, tin, zinc, lead, silver, and beryllium. Specified reactions are the distillation, cracking, and hydrogenation of carbonaceous materials and the regeneration of catalysts used in such processes, the catalytic reduction of oxides of carbon and the synthesis of ammonia. Specified alloys are (1) iron 92,5 per cent, aluminium 6 per cent, titanium 1,5 per cent ; (2) iron 91 per cent, aluminium 5 per cent, chromium 3 per cent, titanium 1 per cent. The Provisional Specification describes also the use for the purpose indicated of alloys containing titanium and one or more of the metals aluminium, copper, cobalt, nickel, and iron, with or without additions of one or more of the other elements above referred to.ALSO:Apparatus for carrying out reactions at elevated temperature in presence of hydrogen is made of or lined with an alloy containing titanium, iron, and aluminium, and optionally also one or more of the elements chromium, tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium, silicon, nickel, cobalt, copper, manganese, tin, zinc, lead, silver, and beryllium.
