366,346. Securing railway rails to sleepers. MORTON, J. M., 484, Highland Avenue, Fall River, Massachusetts, U.S.A. April 8, 1931, No. 10393. [Class 104 (ii).] A metal sleeper of T or other form is provided on each side of the rail with slots c, c<1> having lateral extensions a, a<1> for the insertion of lugs f<1>, f2 on a clip F which clamps the rail to the sleeper. One or both edges of the slots are turned up to form tongues C .. C3, which are afterwards turned down behind the clips to fix the latter in position, as shown in Fig. 7. Tongues D pressed out of the sleeper guide the lower arm f of the clip.
