Abstract

476,217. Fastening railway rails to sleepers. RUPING, M. March 2, 1937, No. 6250. Convention date, April 6, 1936. Addition to 421,769. [Class 104 (ii)] The resilient spike 1 described in the parent Specification overlaps the rail flange in the form of an are extending into the vertical range of projection of the rail head, preferably as far as the rail web, and the shank bears on the edge of the rail flange. In driving the spike into the sleeper, it is partly driven with the arc 20 parallel to the rail head until the arc comes below the level of the head ; it is then turned through 90‹ so that the arc overlies the rail flange, and the driving is then completed. Only one limb of the spike may be turned over the flange, the other being straight or provided with a bent end 22.
