Abstract

389,704. Railway sleepers. S O C. ANON. D'ANGLEUR-ATHUS, Tilleur, near Liege, Belgium. July 8, 1932, No. 19379. Convention date, July 9, 1931. [Class 104 (ii).] A metal sleeper has a flat or slightly arched top 1, a flange 4 at one side dipping into the ballast, and a short flange 3 at the other side to enable the sleeper to be easily packed. A reinforcing flange 2 is provided above the flange 3 and is flattened to the level of the top 1 where the rails rest. Alternatively the top may be raised to the level of the flange at this point. The top 1 may have strengthening ribs on the underside, as shown in Fig. 8.
